How We Count

Every number on this site is either counted by us or linked to the primary source that published it. This page explains exactly how the counting works, so you can judge the numbers — and cite them — with confidence.

The AI Jobs Tracker

  • What we count: live, public job postings on the official career boards of 20 AI and robotics companies (Greenhouse and Ashby boards, read from the employers’ own feeds), plus federal AI-related roles via the USAJOBS Search API filtered to publicly open postings.
  • When: once every day, in the morning US Eastern time. The tracker page shows the exact timestamp of the last run.
  • How the sub-counts work: “US-based” means the posting lists at least one US location or is US-remote. “Entry level” means the posting itself says entry/junior/early-career or requires ≤2 years. “Salary disclosed” means a dollar range is printed in the posting body — we do not estimate pay.
  • What we do not do: no scraping behind logins, no LinkedIn re-counting, no dedup guessing across companies. If a company double-lists a role in two locations, it counts twice — the same way the employer lists it.

The Price Tracker & Price Log

  • Prices are read from each vendor’s official pricing page, US region, every Saturday. Monthly billing unless marked annual.
  • Only verified changes enter the price change log — each row carries the date we confirmed it.
  • Promotional or regional prices are noted as such, never mixed into the base table.

AI Scam Watch

  • Monthly figures come from FTC Consumer Sentinel and FBI IC3 public releases — linked, never paraphrased from secondary coverage.
  • New scam patterns are included only when at least one primary report (agency alert, court filing, or vendor security bulletin) exists.

Corrections

If a number is wrong, we fix the page, note the correction inline with a date, and — when the error was material — add a visible correction box. Found one? Tell us; corrections make the dataset better for everyone.

How this site is written

Drafts are produced with AI assistance and reviewed by a human editor before publication — the full policy is on our Editorial & Review Policy page. The data collection scripts, however, are deterministic: the counts are the counts.

Citing our numbers is welcome. Suggested form: “Source: Prof H Lab AI Jobs Tracker (profhlab.com), counted {date}.” A link back helps other readers verify the number — that is the whole point.
