Editorial & Review Policy

At Prof H Lab our goal is to help readers choose the right tools and settings with clear, honest, and useful information. This page explains how we produce what you read, who is accountable for it, and how we fix it when we get it wrong.

How we create content

Every article is researched and written to answer a real question as directly as possible. We may use AI tools to assist with research and first drafts, but every piece is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by a human before publishing. We add our own testing, hands-on experience, and judgment — content is never published unedited.

Each article carries a named author and the date it was last updated. A person, not a pipeline, is accountable for what appears here.

Where our numbers come from

When we publish a figure, we name the source next to it and give the date we checked it. We prefer primary sources — a company’s own pricing page, official documentation, a regulator’s filing, an employer’s own job board — over secondary coverage. Where a primary source and a secondary report disagree, we say so and tell you which we would trust for which question.

Our counting methodology, including what we include, what we exclude, and the known limits of each data source, is documented separately in How We Count.

How we review products

When we compare or review tools, we evaluate them on criteria that matter to our readers, such as ease of use, features, value for money, and real-world performance. We base assessments on hands-on use, official documentation, and credible sources.

We disclose when we have not personally tested a product. We would rather tell you a comparison is based on published specifications than imply we have used something we have not.

Accuracy and updates

Prices, features, free tiers and product settings change frequently, sometimes weekly. We verify details against official sources at the time of writing and update articles when we learn of significant changes. A figure is only ever a claim about the date printed beside it.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email profhlab@gmail.com with the page and the figure in question. Our practice:

  • We correct factual errors on the page itself rather than quietly removing the page.
  • Where a correction changes the substance of what we told you, we say what changed and when, so you can see it.
  • Where a number has simply been superseded, we update it and change the “checked” date.

Editorial independence

We may earn affiliate commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure), and the Site carries advertising. Neither determines our recommendations or rankings, and no advertiser or affiliate partner reviews an article before it is published or has any say in its conclusion. If a review concludes that the cheaper option or the free one is the right answer, that is what it says.

We also decline to promote products we would not recommend to a reader, even where a commission is available.
