Is Google AI Pro Free With Verizon? The Honest Answer, and 7 Other AI Perks
Short answer: no. Google AI Pro is not free with Verizon. It is a $10-a-month perk on eligible myPlan and myHome plans — half of the $19.99 Google charges directly. The confusion is understandable, because Verizon files it under “perks,” and most perks pages do not lead with a price.
That is the whole answer to the question. But while checking it against Verizon’s own terms this week, we found two things that cost people real money, and six other US offers that are genuinely free — including one that roughly half of American households already own without knowing it.

The Verizon answer, and the two traps inside it
Verizon’s support page states the terms plainly once you find them. The Google AI Pro perk is $10/month, described by Verizon as “a $19.99/month value.” It requires an eligible plan — Simplicity, Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Welcome on mobile; 5G Home, LTE Home, Verizon Home Internet Lite or Fios (except Classic Standalone) on home internet. You get one perk per line, one per Fios account, and the resulting Google account can be shared with up to five other people.
What you get is the real Google AI Pro: the upgraded Gemini assistant, NotebookLM, AI features inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet, 5 TB of storage, YouTube Premium Lite, Google Health Premium and Google Home Premium. At $10 it is, on the numbers, the cheapest route to that specific bundle in the United States.
Then there are the two lines almost nobody reads.
Trap two, from Verizon’s FAQ: billing starts when you enroll, but access starts when you register the line with Google. Those are two different actions. Verizon says you must activate within 90 days or the perk cancels automatically.
So the honest version of the answer is: not free, genuinely half price, and the failure mode is not overpaying by $10 — it is paying two companies for the same subscription.
Is Alexa+ free with Prime?
Yes — and this is the one worth checking first, because you may already be paying for it in a bill you never think of as an AI subscription.
Amazon’s own newsroom states that Alexa+ is included at no additional cost for US Prime members, giving “unlimited access to the full set of Alexa+ capabilities — available to the whole household, across Alexa-enabled devices, Alexa.com, and the Alexa app.” Bought on its own, Alexa+ is $19.99 per month. Non-Prime customers get a free but deliberately limited chat experience at Alexa.com and in the Alexa app, with access “limited based on use.”
Put next to the rest of this page, that is the largest single line item here. A Prime membership costs less per year than three months of a standalone assistant subscription, and the assistant is now part of it.
One note on freshness: in the past week, several outlets including TechCrunch and Engadget reported that Amazon is extending free Alexa+ to current-generation Fire TV devices without requiring Prime, while keeping Routines, saved Ring camera moments and advanced Home Modes behind Prime or the paid plan. We could not confirm that specific rollout on an Amazon-owned page as of this writing, so we are reporting it as press-reported rather than adding it to the verified table.

Four of these are new to this page since last week. The students-and-teachers cluster is the busiest part of the market right now, which makes sense in late August.

What already ended — and who is still recommending it
This is the part of the page that keeps getting longer, and it is the reason the page exists. Five offers that guides and videos still tell Americans to claim:
- ChatGPT Plus, free for students. Real, and gone. The US and Canada promotion ran in spring 2025 and closed May 31, 2025. OpenAI’s replacement for students is the Codex credit in the table above, which is a different product for a different person.
- Samsung Galaxy, a free year of Perplexity Pro. A genuine 2025 Galaxy Store promotion that ended Dec. 24, 2025. It is not a built-in benefit of newer Galaxy phones, whatever the resale listings say.
- PayPal and Venmo, a free year of Perplexity Pro. Announced in Sept. 2025, window closed Dec. 31, 2025.
- Copilot Pro at $20 a month. Microsoft stopped selling the standalone consumer plan to new customers on Oct. 1, 2025 and folded its capabilities into Microsoft 365 Premium.
- T-Mobile, a free year of Perplexity Pro. This one was never American. It is a Deutsche Telekom promotion running through Magenta Moments in European markets. We read T-Mobile’s own US benefits page this week: Netflix Standard with ads, Apple TV+, Hulu on Experience Beyond 2.0, SiriusXM, Pandora, DoorDash, in-flight Wi-Fi — and no AI benefit of any kind.
There is a pattern in those dates. Four of the five closed in the last quarter of 2025, which is when the introductory-giveaway phase of this market ended. What replaced it is narrower and more conditional: student verification, carrier plans, business cards. Free is still available. It is just no longer available to everyone.
And if none of it applies to you
Not everyone is a student, a Verizon customer or a Business Platinum holder. For that reader the relevant development is at the bottom of the price list rather than in the perks: Google launched Google AI Plus in the US on Jan. 27, 2026 at $7.99 a month, its own blog confirms, as a tier below AI Pro with storage shareable across five other family members. Multiple outlets including Engadget and 9to5Google reported on June 8, 2026 that Google cut it to $4.99 and doubled the storage to 400 GB.
We are flagging that price as press-reported rather than verified: Google’s US pricing page will not serve US dollars to us from where we check, and we do not print prices we have not read on the provider’s page. Confirm the current number at one.google.com before you subscribe. The reason it matters is that a $5 tier changes the arithmetic of everything above — a perk that saves you $10 a month is a smaller win when the floor moves.
What to do with this, in five minutes
- Check Prime first. If your household has Prime, you have Alexa+ already. Do this before you buy any assistant subscription.
- Open your carrier app and read the perks list against your statements. The common outcome is not a missed discount. It is paying twice — once directly, once through a perk you enabled and forgot.
- If you have the Verizon perk, confirm you actually registered it with Google, and confirm you are not still paying Google directly for Google One.
- If anyone in the house is enrolled at a university, the Google year, the GitHub plan and the Codex credit are three separate things and do not conflict. Educators should check Perplexity, which counts them too.
- Set one calendar reminder, two days before each renewal. Not on the day.

Is Google AI Pro free with Verizon?

Is Alexa+ free with Prime?

Do I need to cancel Google One before taking the Verizon perk?
Yes. Verizon’s terms state that if you have an active paid Google One subscription bought from Google or a third party, you must cancel it before setting up Google AI Pro through Verizon. Nothing prevents you from holding both and paying twice.
Is Copilot included with Microsoft 365 Family?
Partly, and not the way most people assume. Microsoft 365 Personal and Family each include 60 AI credits a month, but Microsoft states those AI benefits are only available to the subscription owner and cannot be shared with others. A Family plan does not give AI to the family. Microsoft 365 Premium, at $19.99 a month, removes the credit limits for one person.
How do students get Google AI Pro free for 12 months?
Eligible US college students claim it at Google’s student page. Google’s announcement states a valid form of payment is required at sign-up and the plan renews at $19.99 a month unless cancelled, and the offer must be redeemed by Dec. 31, 2026.
Is there still a ChatGPT student discount?
Not for ChatGPT Plus. The free-Plus promotion for US and Canadian students ended May 31, 2025. What OpenAI currently offers students in the US and Canada is $100 in Codex credits, limited to one per student, expiring 12 months after the grant date.
Does T-Mobile give free Perplexity Pro in the US?
No. That offer runs through Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta Moments programme in European markets. T-Mobile’s own US benefits page lists Netflix, Apple TV+, Hulu, SiriusXM, Pandora and DoorDash, with no AI benefit, as of Aug. 22, 2026.
Can educators get a Perplexity discount, or only students?
Educators too. Perplexity’s Education Pro offer is 50% off Pro at $10 a month for verified students and educators, confirmed through SheerID, and is available in the US among more than 180 countries.
