Is YouTube Premium Free With Google AI Pro? Yes, but Not the Full Version
Yes — Google AI Pro now includes YouTube Premium Lite in the United States at no extra cost, and Google’s own support page confirms it. It does not include full YouTube Premium, which is a separate $15.99-a-month subscription — unless you are a verified US college student, in which case Google will sell you AI Pro and full Premium together for $8.99 a month.
That $8.99 is the number worth stopping on. It is the same price YouTube charges everybody else for Premium Lite alone, with no AI attached. A student pays it and gets $35.98 of subscriptions. Everyone else pays it and gets the cheapest ad-free tier of one website.
We re-read every figure below on the provider’s own page on August 29, 2026. This is the weekly re-verification pass behind our AI perks and deals page, which now tracks ten active US offers and seven dead ones.

The short answer, by who you are
There is no single price here, which is exactly why the question keeps getting asked. What you pay depends on a status you either have or do not.
| If you are | You pay | And the YouTube half is |
|---|---|---|
| A verified US college student | $8.99/mo | Full YouTube Premium — ad-free video, background play, offline downloads, YouTube Music. This is the real thing, not Lite. |
| A Verizon myPlan or myHome customer | $10/mo | Premium Lite, because the perk is AI Pro and Lite rides along with AI Pro. |
| Anyone paying for Google AI Pro | $19.99/mo | Premium Lite, and it is non-shareable — only the plan manager watches without ads. |
| Someone who just wants ad-free YouTube | $8.99/mo | Premium Lite bought on its own, with no AI subscription at all. |
| Buying both separately | $35.98/mo | Full Premium at $15.99 plus AI Pro at $19.99. The price the bundles are measured against. |

What changed on August 19
Two things moved at once, which is part of why the answer is confusing.
First, Google folded YouTube Premium Lite into AI Pro as an included benefit. Google One’s support documentation lists the United States among eligible countries and specifies who gets it: individual AI Pro members on monthly plans, annual plans or third-party subscriptions, including Google One 5 TB and 10 TB plans. It also states the limit plainly — the benefit is non-shareable, and only the plan manager can watch videos without ads.
Second, on August 19, 2026, the official YouTube blog announced a student bundle: Google AI Pro together with a full YouTube Premium individual subscription, at $8.99 a month against $35.98 for the two bought apart. That announcement landed the same day Google relaunched its free student year of AI Pro, which is a separate offer with separate terms.
So the headlines saying “YouTube Premium is now bundled with Google AI Pro” are half right. Lite is bundled for everyone. Full Premium is bundled only for students, and only at a price.

The part we are not going to pretend to know
Whether Premium Lite includes background play and offline downloads is genuinely unsettled in the coverage we read — reputable outlets contradict each other on it, and the Google page we read did not resolve it. The conventional understanding is that Lite is ad-free video only, without YouTube Music, and still shows ads on music videos.
We are not printing a feature list we did not read at the source. If background play is the reason you would pay for YouTube at all, open the plan page and confirm it before you assume the AI Pro perk covers you. This is the same rule we apply to every price we track, and it is why our price log is short.
How to claim the student bundle
- Check the disqualifier first. The offer is not available on school-issued accounts and is individual-use only. If your university gave you the Google account you live in, this will not work on it — use a personal account.
- Go to Google’s student hub and start the AI Pro student flow.
- Verify through SheerID with your enrollment details. This is the same verifier used by the OpenAI Codex student credit and Perplexity’s Education Pro, so if you have done one you know the drill.
- Read what happens at the end. Google states the offer is valid for up to four years and may renew automatically at the standard monthly price once your student status ends.
- Set the reminder now — two days before the renewal date, not on it.
The auto-renew warning that applies to all of it.
A valid payment method is required at sign-up for the student offers, and they roll into full price on schedule. Four years is long enough that you will not remember this article when the bill changes. The single most useful two minutes here is a calendar reminder, dated two days before renewal. Not on the day.
Who this quietly changes the math for
If you hold the Verizon myPlan or myHome AI Pro perk at $10 a month, the Lite inclusion raised what that perk is worth without Verizon changing the price. You were buying a half-price AI subscription; you are now buying a half-price AI subscription with ad-free video attached. Verizon’s own two traps still apply — cancel an existing paid Google One subscription first, and activate within 90 days or the perk cancels itself.
If you are already paying $15.99 for full YouTube Premium and $19.99 for AI Pro, you are paying the unbundled $35.98 and getting a Lite benefit you cannot use, because you already have the better version. There is no refund mechanism for that. It is simply worth knowing before the next renewal.
And if you are not a student, not a Verizon customer, and mainly want the AI, the cheaper move is further down the price list. Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month — a figure we carried as press-reported for months and could only confirm from Google’s own writing this week. It is now logged in our AI price change log as a verified change from $7.99.
Frequently asked questions
Is YouTube Premium free with Google AI Pro?
YouTube Premium Lite is included with Google AI Pro at no extra cost in the United States, per Google One support. Full YouTube Premium is not included; it costs $15.99 a month separately. Verified US college students can buy AI Pro and full Premium together for $8.99 a month.
What is the difference between YouTube Premium and Premium Lite?
Full Premium at $15.99 a month covers ad-free video, background play, offline downloads and YouTube Music. Premium Lite at $8.99 is the cheaper ad-free tier and does not include YouTube Music. Coverage disagrees on whether Lite includes background play and downloads, and Google’s page did not settle it when we read it on August 29, 2026, so confirm on the plan page before subscribing.
Can I share the YouTube Premium Lite benefit with my family?
No. Google states the benefit is non-shareable and that only the plan manager can watch videos without ads. This is the same structure as Microsoft 365, where the 60 monthly AI credits go to the subscription owner and cannot be shared with the family.
How long does the $8.99 student bundle last?
Google states it is valid for up to four years and may renew automatically at the standard monthly price once student status ends. Verification runs through SheerID at sign-up, and the offer is not available on school-issued accounts.
Does the Verizon AI Pro perk include YouTube Premium Lite?
The Verizon perk is Google AI Pro, and Premium Lite is now included with AI Pro, so it rides along. The perk costs $10 a month against a $19.99 value. Verizon requires you to cancel an existing paid Google One subscription first, and to activate within 90 days or the perk cancels itself.
