How to Set Up Job Alerts for Specific Companies: We Checked All 20 AI Employers (Sept. 2026)

Four of the twenty AI and robotics employers we track had a working Create a job alert button on September 20, 2026. Three more have one sitting on a URL their careers page never links to, and the rest have nothing at all — which is why 2,391 of the 3,852 open roles we counted this morning (62%) cannot email you when a new one opens. If you have been refreshing a company careers page every morning, that is why: for most of these employers, refreshing is the only mechanism there is.

This is the Sunday how-to, so the rest of this is the three routes that do work, in the order we would try them, with the exact addresses. We checked each board by hand today rather than repeating what the “job alert” guides say, because most of those guides are written by companies selling a monitoring tool and none of them name a single employer.

Which of these companies will actually email you

We open the same twenty employer boards every morning to build the AI jobs tracker and the jobs board. Today we opened them for a different reason: to find out, for each one, whether a person who wants to be told about new roles has any way to be told.

Every board opened by hand on September 20, 2026. Role counts are from our own scan the same morning. Google DeepMind is the twentieth board we track; its Greenhouse address returned a 404 today, so it is left out of this table.

The shape of that chart is the finding. The alert button clusters on the smaller boards, while the two employers posting the most — OpenAI with 818 open roles and Waymo with 339 — are both in the bottom band. Seventy of OpenAI’s roles were new in the last seven days, and there is no mechanism on their board to tell you about any of them.

The reason is the software, not the company

Almost no company builds its own job board. They rent one, and the two landlords here are Greenhouse and Ashby. You can tell which one you are standing in from the address bar before the page even finishes loading.

Greenhouse ships a candidate alert feature; Ashby, as far as we can find, does not offer one to job seekers. But Greenhouse also lets each employer switch it off, which is why Anthropic shows the button and Waymo does not, on identical software. According to Greenhouse’s own documentation for employers, an admin picks which boards allow alerts, and the setting “instantly” applies. Nobody tells candidates this, so the absence of a button reads as “this company does not do alerts” when it actually means “someone left a checkbox unticked.”

Method 1: the Greenhouse alert, step by step

This is the only one of the three routes where the employer’s own system emails you, so try it first.

1. Open the board. For our four, that is job-boards.greenhouse.io/anthropic, /xai, /scaleai or /figureai on the same domain.
2. Look directly under the “Open Roles” heading for a bell icon and the words Create a Job Alert. If it is not there, the employer switched it off — skip to method 2.
3. Click Create alert. It sends you to my.greenhouse.io with the board name already in the address, so the alert is tied to that one employer.
4. Sign in. There is no password to invent: you type an email address and Greenhouse mails you a code. Google, Apple and LinkedIn sign-in are offered as alternatives.
5. Pick your job titles. Greenhouse’s documentation says candidates get up to eight titles by default, and that near-matches are included — an alert for “project manager” also catches “senior project manager.” Some employers also allow alerts by department.
6. Choose daily or weekly. The mail goes out at 8:00 a.m. in your time zone, and every board you subscribe to is folded into that one message.

Method 2: bring the button back with the embed URL

Four of our Greenhouse employers do not send you to Greenhouse at all. Type job-boards.greenhouse.io/nuro and you land on nuro.ai; the same happens for Apptronik, Agility Robotics and Waymo. The company has wrapped its own page around the board, and the alert button does not survive the wrapping.

It is still there underneath. Greenhouse serves a plain version of every board at job-boards.greenhouse.io/embed/job_board?for=company, and on September 20 that address showed the Create a job alert button for Nuro, Apptronik and Agility Robotics. The listings are the same ones; only the wrapper is gone.

Waymo is the exception that proves it is a setting rather than a trick. Its embed page loads and carries all 339 roles, and the button is not on it either — so Waymo has alerts switched off at the source, not merely hidden by its careers site. If you want Waymo roles, you are in method 3 with everyone else.

Method 3: what to do about the twelve with no alert

This is most of the market, so it deserves more than a shrug. Three things genuinely help, in descending order of how well they worked when we tried them.

Bookmark a filtered search. Our own jobs board writes your filters into the address bar, so profhlab.com/jobs-board/?co=OpenAI or ?entry=1 for the 136 roles employers labelled entry level reopens the same view tomorrow. It refreshes every morning from the employers’ own feeds, every row applies on the employer’s site, and there is no account. It is not an email, though — you still have to open it.

Use the company’s LinkedIn page. Per LinkedIn’s own help page, you open the company Page, click the Jobs tab, and click Create job alert. This needs a LinkedIn account, and it can only ever show you what the company chooses to post to LinkedIn — we could not measure how much of each board that is, so treat it as a supplement to the board rather than a replacement for it.

Check on the days that pay. If you are going to look manually, look when new things appear. We counted the posting dates on these boards earlier this month and the week is not flat; the finding is in what day of the week are most jobs posted.

Three things that look like they work and do not

We tried these today so you do not have to.

Adding /rss to an Ashby board. jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai/rss returns HTTP 200 — and a normal web page, not a feed. A feed reader will accept the address and then quietly never show you anything. Greenhouse at least has the decency to return a 404.

Assuming the careers page is the whole board. Four of nine Greenhouse boards on our list redirect away from Greenhouse entirely, and three of those four lose a feature in the process. The branded page is usually a subset of what the software can do.

Trusting a slug that worked last month. Google DeepMind’s Greenhouse address returned a 404 for us today, which is why our table has nineteen rows instead of twenty. Boards move. If a bookmark starts erroring, the roles did not necessarily disappear.

What to do with this

• Spend five minutes creating one Greenhouse alert — the account covers Anthropic, xAI, Scale AI and Figure AI at once, plus Nuro, Apptronik and Agility Robotics through the embed addresses.
• Bookmark one filtered view of the board for each company you actually care about that has no alert. That is the OpenAI and Waymo half of the market.
• Decide now how often you will open those bookmarks, and put it somewhere that nags you. An alert you have to remember is not an alert.
• If pay is what you are filtering for, 2,251 of today’s 3,852 roles publish a range — the pattern behind the silent ones is in why postings hide salary.

If you want to go deeper

Which companies are worth an alert in the first place? The two with the most open roles are not the two with the most openings for people starting out. We break the entry-level end down in entry-level AI jobs with no experience, and the pay end in which AI company pays the most and what forward deployed engineers earn.

Do alerts cover the non-software jobs? Greenhouse alerts match on job title, so an alert for “technician” behaves very differently from one for “engineer.” The industrial roles at xAI’s Memphis site are a good example — we counted them in the Memphis pay piece.

Common questions about company job alerts

How do I set up job alerts for specific companies?

Open the company’s own job board and look for a Create a job alert button. If the board runs on Greenhouse (the address contains job-boards.greenhouse.io), the button signs you into a free, password-free MyGreenhouse account and sends one grouped email each morning. If the board runs on Ashby (jobs.ashbyhq.com), there is no alert to set up — on September 20, 2026 none of the eleven Ashby boards we opened had one, so you need a saved search or a third-party watcher instead.

Does every company let you create a job alert?

No. Of the nineteen boards that loaded for us on September 20, 2026, four showed an alert button, three more had one on an address their careers page does not link to, and twelve had none. Greenhouse lets the employer switch alerts on or off per board, which is why two companies on the same software behave differently.

Can I get job alerts without a LinkedIn account?

Yes. The Greenhouse alert asks only for an email address — it mails you a sign-in code rather than asking you to pick a password. LinkedIn’s company-page alert is a separate route that does need a LinkedIn account, and it only ever sees the roles a company chooses to post on LinkedIn.

How often do job alert emails arrive?

Greenhouse’s own documentation says candidates choose daily or weekly, that the mail goes out at 8:00 a.m. in your time zone, that alerts from every board you subscribe to are grouped into one email, and that republished jobs are left out. That last detail matters more than it sounds: 20.7% of the listings we tracked in an eight-day window had their date pushed forward without anything changing.

What if the company’s careers page has no alert button?

Check whether the page is a repainted Greenhouse board. Try job-boards.greenhouse.io/embed/job_board?for= plus the company’s slug — on September 20 that brought the button back for Nuro, Apptronik and Agility Robotics. It did not work for Waymo, whose board has alerts switched off everywhere we looked.

Is there an RSS feed for a company’s job board?

Not from either platform. Adding /rss to an Ashby board returns a normal web page with a 200 status, which is the kind of failure that looks like success in a feed reader, and Greenhouse returns a 404. Both platforms do publish a public JSON list of open roles, which is what our own morning scan reads.

How many AI job postings would I miss without an alert?

Between September 13 and September 20, 2026 we counted 260 postings that were not on these boards a week earlier. 165 of them — 63% — were on boards with no alert option, including 70 at OpenAI alone.

Do job alerts help you get hired faster?

We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. What an alert changes is how soon you see the posting; everything after that is the same application everyone else files. Treat it as a way to stop refreshing tabs, not as an edge.
