AI Companies Hiring Remote Workers: 318 Say Remote, 153 Mean It (Sept. 24, 2026)
On September 24, 2026, 318 postings on the AI company job boards we read said “remote.” Only 153 can be done from a US home with no office days and no location catch, and they sit at 7 companies: ElevenLabs, Cohere, Agility Robotics, Cursor, OpenAI, Perplexity and Replit. That is about 1 in 20 of the 3,090 AI jobs open in the US today.
Sierra, the customer-service AI company, has 19 postings marked “Remote (US – Remote).” Every one also carries the same sentence further down: “We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco.” Both can be true. A sales director can work from home and fly to customers. But it tells you the word in the location line is only the first thing to read.
So this morning we read all 318. We checked where each one says you must live, whether it asks for office days, and what it pays. Directory sites list the 318. This page shows which ones hold up.
The short version
- 318 US postings say remote, 10.3% of 3,090 (Sept. 24, 2026, 19 boards read).
- 71 are remote from another country, and 55 still expect office time.
- 39 more add a condition in the text: an in-person culture, a list of metro areas, a preferred city.
- 153 remain. 99 of those are not engineering jobs.
- Of the 153, 74 publish pay. Their median range is $185,500–$301,000; the lowest starts at $80,000.

Which AI companies are hiring remote workers? Seven, today
Here is the count by company, after all the checks below. Two things stand out. ElevenLabs, the voice AI company, posts the most remote roles of anyone, and it publishes no pay range on any of them. And 12 of the 19 boards we read have no no-strings remote role at all.

Each company puts it a little differently:
- ElevenLabs (51). Remote-first. Every posting offers a yearly stipend to meet colleagues in person, and some add that you may use its offices in London, New York, San Francisco or Warsaw if you prefer.
- Cohere (38). “Cohere is remote-friendly.” Nearly every posting lists a $500 home-office stipend and, for people not near an office, a co-working benefit. Four say there is “no minimum in-office qualification requirement.”
- Agility Robotics (23). The humanoid robot maker writes “This is a fully remote role with the option to work hybrid” if you live near Salem, Pittsburgh or Fremont.
- Cursor (19). Mostly field engineers and account executives who sell to large companies. No pay ranges.
- OpenAI (18). Security engineers, plus a cluster of jobs finding land and power for data centers. We read OpenAI’s whole board earlier this month.
From 318 to 153: where “remote” falls apart

Remote, but in another country (71). Our boards include postings a US job seeker can see but probably cannot take: ElevenLabs roles marked Remote (UAE), Remote (Sweden) or Remote (Colombia), OpenAI support roles in Ontario, and 25 xAI “AI Tutor” roles listed as Remote International. If the tutor roles interest you, we read those in is the xAI AI tutor job legit.
Remote, but tied to an office (55). Anthropic has 49 postings marked Remote-Friendly. Its postings say it expects staff in an office at least a quarter of the time; we read every one in what Remote-Friendly means at Anthropic. Six OpenAI postings say “US – Remote” in the location but Hybrid or On-site in the workplace field.
Remote, with a condition in the text (39). Sierra’s 19 carry the in-person line. All 12 of Waymo’s remote postings say it “may not be able to employ remotely in all locations.” One of them, a program manager role, lists the 12 metro areas it means, from Atlanta to Phoenix to New York City. Four ElevenLabs roles prefer New York or San Francisco, two Cursor federal sales roles want the DC area, and both Mercor postings carry its “in-person five days a week” company line. (Waymo’s full board is in is Waymo hiring.)
The part no job site shows you. Waymo’s list covers only 12 metro areas. If you live in Ohio or Oregon, a Waymo posting marked “Remote, US” may not be open to you. The posting says so itself and tells you to raise your location with the recruiter. Directory sites copy the location line; this sentence sits near the end of the posting.

Remote AI jobs that are not engineering: 99 of the 153
This is the finding that surprised us most. You might expect remote AI work to mean remote coding. Mostly, it does not. Two-thirds of the no-strings remote postings are sales and account work (43), marketing and communications (18), recruiting and people teams (16), operations, support and finance (15), and legal and compliance (7). The logic is plain: a salesperson in Houston sells to Houston. A coder could sit anywhere, but these companies want most of their engineers in the building.
Below are 11 of them, lowest pay first. Most ask for several years of experience in that line of work. None asks you to know how to build AI.
| Posting | Location, as written | Base pay |
|---|---|---|
| Cohere · Executive Assistant (Sales) | Remote (New York) | $80,000–$105,000 |
| Cohere · Talent Sourcer, G&A | Remote (New York) | $80,000–$125,000 |
| Agility Robotics · Campus Program Recruiter | Remote | $85,000–$133,000 |
| Agility Robotics · Events Manager | Remote | $96,000–$124,000 |
| Perplexity · Consumer Support Specialist | Remote (United States) | $100,000–$115,000 |
| Perplexity · Enterprise Customer Support Specialist | Remote (United States) | $110,000–$130,000 |
| Agility Robotics · Business Intelligence Analyst | Remote | $120,000–$187,000 |
| OpenAI · Economic Development Lead | US – Remote | $176,000–$285,000 |
| ElevenLabs · Localization Specialist | Remote (United States) | range not published |
| ElevenLabs · Payroll Specialist | Remote (United States) | range not published |
| Cursor · Data Analyst, User Operations | Remote | range not published |
Eleven of the 153 no-strings remote postings, chosen to show jobs outside engineering, lowest pay first. All read on the employer’s own board on September 24, 2026. The titles link to the postings.
Two of those are new this week: Perplexity posted both support roles between September 18 and 21. Support is one of the few remote jobs on these boards without a senior title. Perplexity asks for “basic web tech understanding” like HTTP and HTML, not programming. For more jobs like these, see AI jobs that don’t require coding.
Do remote AI jobs pay less? Not here
Of the 153, 74 publish a pay range. The median range runs from $185,500 to $301,000. The lowest remote floors are the Cohere executive assistant and sourcer roles at $80,000 and Agility’s campus recruiter at $85,000.
The other 79 show no range, and 70 of them are at ElevenLabs and Cursor. Leaving it out is legal in many states, but not all. We explained which states require a range, and what to do when there is none, in why job postings don’t show salary. When a range is posted, it can be wide; here is why. How to tell a real remote AI job from a fake one
The more an ad promises “remote AI work, no experience,” the more careful you should be. None of the 153 real postings on this page asks you to pay for anything. The FTC counted more than 105,000 job-scam reports in 2024, about three times the 2020 number, with more than $513 million lost (FTC, Dec. 2024).
- Find the posting on the company’s own site. Every link on this page goes to a careers page run by the employer. If you only find the job in a text message or a chat app, stop.
- Nobody real asks you to pay. Not for training, a laptop, a headset or a “starter kit.”
- Never deposit a check and send money back. That is the oldest version of this scam.
- Real interviews come before an offer. See the FTC’s advice on work-from-home job scams.
AI training and data-labeling gigs are the gray zone. Some are real. We sorted them in are AI training jobs legit and part-time AI jobs you can do from home.
We are not recruiters. We take no money from any employer named here, and we do not handle applications. Postings can close without notice, and the official page wins. Apply only on the employer’s own site: the links in the table go there. A real employer will not charge you a fee, ask you to deposit a check and send money back, or offer you a job by text.
Ask early which states the job can be done from
- Start with the seven. ElevenLabs, Cohere, Agility, Cursor, OpenAI, Perplexity and Replit are where the no-strings remote roles are today. Open Cohere’s roles or browse every open role and apply on the employer’s site.
- Read to the end of the posting. Look for four things: office days, a list of states or cities, a “preference” for a location, and travel.
- Ask one question early. “Which states can this role be done from?” Waymo’s postings tell you to ask it.
- Hear when new ones open. Set a company alert: how to set up job alerts for specific companies.
Only 25 of 248 ‘remote’ engineering postings could be confirmed
Are engineering jobs different? Yes, and worse for remote. Of 248 engineering postings that said remote on September 8, we could confirm 25: are AI engineer jobs remote.
Who is hiring the most overall? The daily ranking is in which AI companies are hiring right now, and the numbers behind it are on the AI jobs tracker. Starting out? Try entry-level AI jobs with no experience, or if you are changing careers later in life, AI jobs for people over 50.

Questions people ask about remote jobs at AI companies
Which AI companies are hiring remote workers right now?
On September 24, 2026, seven of the 19 AI company job boards we read had postings you could do from a US home with no office days: ElevenLabs (51), Cohere (38), Agility Robotics (23), Cursor (19), OpenAI (18), Perplexity (2) and Replit (2). That is 153 postings in all.
Is Anthropic hiring remote?
Anthropic lists 49 US postings as Remote-Friendly, but its postings say it expects staff in an office at least 25% of the time. We count those as tied to an office, not remote.
Do remote AI jobs pay less?
Not at these companies. The 74 no-strings remote postings that publish pay have a median base range of $185,500 to $301,000. The lowest we found start at $80,000, for executive assistant and talent sourcer roles at Cohere.
Can I get a remote AI job without coding?
Yes. 99 of the 153 no-strings remote postings are outside engineering: sales and account roles, marketing, recruiting, support, payroll, legal and operations. Most ask for several years of experience in that field.
Does remote mean I can live anywhere in the US?
Not always. Waymo’s remote postings say it may not be able to employ remotely in all locations, and one lists 12 metro areas. Another 46 postings name a city in brackets after “Remote.” Ask the recruiter which states the role can be done from before you interview.
How do I tell a real remote AI job from a scam?
Apply only on the company’s own careers page. A real employer will not charge a fee, ask you to buy equipment, send you a check to deposit, or offer the job by text. The FTC counted more than 105,000 job-scam reports in 2024.
