Is Anthropic Hiring Right Now? 629 Open Roles on Sept. 29, Up 112 in 38 Days
Yes. On September 29, 2026 Anthropic’s own job board listed 629 open roles, up from 517 on August 22 — a net gain of 112 in 38 days, the largest of the 19 AI employer boards we read every morning. The growth is real, but it is not where most readers expect it. Sales added 44 open roles. The AI Research & Engineering department added 3. And not one of the 629 postings uses the words “new grad” or “entry-level.”
What we checked, August 22 to September 29, 2026
Every morning since August 22 we have read Anthropic’s public Greenhouse job board, the same feed behind anthropic.com/careers/jobs, along with 18 other AI, robotics and autonomy employers. That gave us 38 daily snapshots; September 18 was missed. On September 29 we also opened the full text of all 629 Anthropic postings and read the experience, pay and office lines in each one.
- 629 open roles on Sept. 29 (489 in the United States, 140 abroad).
- +112 since Aug. 22: 261 postings appeared, 149 are no longer listed.
- 845 different Anthropic postings seen across the 38 days.
- 0 of 629 say “new grad,” “recent graduate” or “entry-level.”
- 629 of 629 ask staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
An AI assistant helped draft this piece and run the page reads; every number was counted from Anthropic’s own postings, and every quote was read on the source’s own page on the date shown.

How many jobs does Anthropic have open right now?
Anthropic had 629 open postings on September 29, 2026, and 489 of them were in the United States. That is more than Glassdoor’s figure of 319, which is the top search result for this question today. Aggregators copy postings on their own schedule; the employer’s board is the only count that is current.
The count moved in a steady climb. It sat near 517 for the first three days, jumped to 571 by August 29, crossed 600 on September 17 and peaked at 631 on September 24 before settling at 629.
Underneath that climb there is a lot of churn. Of the 517 roles on the board on August 22, only 368 are still listed. The other 149 were filled, paused or pulled; the board does not say which. In their place, 261 new postings appeared.
One pattern surprised us. Our reads land at about 7 a.m. Eastern, so each covers the previous US day. Across the 12 reads that covered a Saturday or a Sunday, Anthropic added 20 postings in total. Reads that covered a weekday averaged about 13 new postings each. If you set an alert, the news arrives Monday through Friday, which fits what we found in our count of which weekday most AI jobs are posted.

Among the 19 boards, Anthropic’s +112 was the largest net gain, ahead of OpenAI at +87 and xAI at +30. Five boards shrank, led by ElevenLabs at −59 and Figure AI at −26. The whole set grew from 3,652 to 3,888 postings, so Anthropic alone accounts for almost half of the market’s net growth in this window.
Which Anthropic teams are hiring the most?
Sales grew from 80 to 124 open roles between August 22 and September 29, 2026, which is 39% of Anthropic’s entire net gain. Of the 261 postings that appeared in the window, 73 were in Sales, more than any other department.

The Sales titles are mostly account executives. Enterprise Account Executive appears 26 times, Customer Success Manager 12 times and Strategic Account Executive 10 times. Only 77 of the 124 Sales roles are in the United States; the rest are in London, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, Munich, Paris and other offices.
Next came Applied AI (+17), the customer-facing engineers who help companies build on Claude, then Compute (+11) and Software Engineering – Infrastructure (+10). Security and Communications each lost 2.
Research is still the second-largest department at 70 open roles, but it barely moved. If you picture Anthropic’s hiring as a line of researchers, the board says otherwise: this autumn it is hiring the people who sell, deploy and run what the researchers built.
Software engineers: 91 open titles contain “Software Engineer,” 79 of them in the U.S. Biologists: 19 titles name life sciences or biology, and 7 of those are research scientist or research engineer roles, including Research Scientist, Life Sciences (Experimental Biology).

Is Anthropic hiring new grads?
Not through its regular job board: 0 of the 629 postings we read on September 29, 2026 say “new grad,” “recent graduate” or “entry-level,” and the typical posting asks for 8 years of experience. 432 postings write a years-of-experience number. For 393 of them, 91%, the first number is 5 or more.

Only 7 postings open with a figure of 2 years or fewer, and 5 of those are manager jobs where the 1 or 2 years means years managing people. That leaves two: Business Development Representative, which asks for “2-3+ years,” and Partnership Manager, AI for Science, which asks for 2+ years around life sciences research.
Every posting also carries the same logistics line: minimum years of experience “will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position.” In practice, that means the level decides the bar, and the levels on this board are high.
The door that does not ask for experience is the Anthropic Fellows Program. Three Fellows postings are open, in AI Safety & Security, ML Systems & Reinforcement Learning, and Economics & Policy. Anthropic says it funds “promising technical talent – regardless of previous experience.”
The terms are on the posting. The program runs 4 months, full-time, from a shared workspace in Berkeley or London, with an expected base stipend of 3,850 USD a week. Applications are open for the January cohort. Anthropic writes that in previous cohorts “25-50% of fellows received a full-time offer.” Python fluency is required.
The Fellows postings are not tagged to a U.S. office in the feed, so a search for U.S. entry-level roles will miss them. They are the closest thing Anthropic has to a new-grad track, and they are easy to overlook. For roles elsewhere that genuinely take beginners, see our count of entry-level AI jobs that ask for no experience and when summer 2027 internships open.

Is Anthropic hiring remote, or in New York and Seattle?
Anthropic lists 55 of its 629 open roles as “Remote-Friendly,” but all 629 postings say staff are expected in an office at least 25% of the time. The exact line is on every posting: “we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time.”
So “remote-friendly” at Anthropic is a label, not a promise of never commuting. Some of those postings add “Travel-Required” in the location itself. We unpacked what the phrase means in practice in what remote-friendly means at Anthropic, and compared it with other employers in AI companies hiring remote workers.
By city, counting every posting that names the city: San Francisco 454, New York City 337, Seattle 176, Washington, D.C. 61, London 56, Boston 8 and Austin 3. Many postings list two or three U.S. offices, which is why the numbers add up to more than 629.
New York is the real second headquarters on this board. More than half of all postings name it. Washington’s 61 are mostly public sector, policy and national security roles.
What does Anthropic pay, according to its own postings?
472 of Anthropic’s 489 U.S. postings publish a salary range, and the median midpoint on September 29, 2026 was $360,000. That is base salary as written on the posting, not total compensation.
The lowest floor on the U.S. board is the Business Development Representative at $116,480 to $131,040. Product Support Specialist starts at $131,040. Sales roles have a median midpoint of $332,500; roles titled Software Engineer, $402,500; and the AI Research & Engineering department, $540,000.
The top of several research ranges reaches $850,000. Wide ranges like that are a feature of pay-transparency law, not a typo, and we explained why AI salary ranges are so wide. For the customer-facing engineering track that Anthropic is growing fastest, see what forward deployed engineers make.

How hard is it to get a job at Anthropic right now?
A job board cannot tell you an acceptance rate, and Anthropic does not publish one, so we will not give you a number for that. What the board does show is the shape of the bar: a median ask of 8 years, 0 roles labeled entry-level, and an application form that wants your own words.
When we opened 25 Anthropic application forms on September 28, 2026, 23 of them required an answer to “Why Anthropic?” before you could submit, and only 4 had a box for a cover letter. The full comparison is in our count of 475 AI job application forms.
The board also carries old postings. The median Anthropic role was first published 47 days ago, but 115 were first published more than 180 days ago, and 23 more than a year ago. The oldest two, Performance Engineer and Staff+ Research Scientist, Multi-Agent, were first published on April 22, 2024.
Long-running postings are often evergreen roles filled several times, not fake ones. Still, we measured what happens to old postings and why a date on a board can mislead you.
Apply on Anthropic’s own board, and match the level first
- Apply only on Anthropic’s own board. Every Anthropic link in this piece goes to anthropic.com or job-boards.greenhouse.io/anthropic. If a message about an Anthropic job sends you anywhere else, stop and check it on the board first.
- Match the level before the title. If the posting’s first experience figure is 8 years and you have 3, the title will not save the application. Filter the AI & Robotics Jobs Board by company and read the experience line first.
- If you are early in your career, look at the Fellows program first. It is the only Anthropic door on today’s board that says it does not require previous experience, and the January cohort is open.
- Write the “Why Anthropic?” answer yourself. It is required on most forms, and it is the one part of the application only you can write.
- Set an alert and expect weekday news. New Anthropic postings go up Monday through Friday and almost never on weekends. Here is how each employer board handles alerts.
We are not recruiters
We take no money from employers and there are no affiliate links on this page. Postings close without notice, so the employer’s own page always wins over ours. Never pay to apply, never deposit a check and send money back, and treat a job offer by text message as a warning sign. More in our scam rules.
How we counted, and what the board could not show us
We read Anthropic’s Greenhouse board once a day with the same script we use for the AI Jobs Tracker. A posting counts as new when its ID was not on the previous day’s board. We do not use Greenhouse’s “updated” date, because Anthropic’s refreshes daily; posting age comes from the “first published” date.
For experience, we took the first sentence in each posting that pairs a number of years with the word “experience.” That rule can misread a posting that lists a management requirement first, which is why we checked the lowest bucket by hand. 197 postings state no number at all.
We could not see how many people apply, how many are hired, or whether a posting that disappeared was filled or cancelled. Departments are Anthropic’s own labels. September 18 is missing from our series.

How OpenAI, Waymo and Figure AI compare on the same count
We run the same count for other employers: is OpenAI still hiring, is Waymo hiring and is Figure AI hiring. For the whole market in one list, start with which AI companies are hiring right now, then whether the AI job market is saturated.
If you do not write code, these AI jobs do not require it, and Anthropic’s Sales growth is part of that list. Before you apply anywhere, read whether you can opt out of AI resume screening and why some postings hide the salary.
If you want us to check a specific role or city for you, ask the desk and we will read the board.
